The Commonwealth Government’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) is a national emissions trading scheme which will be the central mechanism for achieving Australia’s greenhouse gas reduction targets. The specific provisions of the scheme are currently under discussion and the implications for businesses are yet to be determined. One thing that is known is that for businesses, large and small, climate change presents a range of risks, challenges and opportunities.
